While tattoos were once considered permanent, it is now possible to remove them with treatments.
Laser treatments gradually fade the tattoo by breaking and dispersing the pigment that is fixed within the layer of your skin, so that your body is able to eliminate it as waste via your circulatory and lymphatic system.
Remember, this is a gradual process and happens over time. A local or topical anaesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
At the time of treatment you can expect some redness and swelling that will subside over 24 – 48 hours, you will be asked to apply Bepanthan cream, an antiseptic cream that ensures the integrity of the skin.
Your consultant will work within the set parameters in strength of laser and will be guided by your feedback at each session. If you do experience crusting following treatment, keep tattoo clean and apply Bepanthan 4 times a day, do not pick or scratch at site and let skin heal spontaneously. You are required to wait 4 – 6 weeks between treatments.
